This book has been on my "to read" list for a good long while, ever since I first read Gaiman's Stardust. I love his style of writing and have like the couple of things of his I've read. I've never entered into Pratchett's Discworld series but have heard good things about it from fellow sci-fi/fantasy lovers. Good Omens seemed like a nice meeting between the two.
So far (I'm about a quarter the way in) we've met an angel and a demon who have been on Earth awhile. In fact, they've been here since the beginning. And now they're preparing for Armageddon. The demon has been chosen to start "the end" by delivering the antichrist to his new earthly home. But the child is misplaced by a well-meaning satanic nun along the way.
Yep, that's what this book is about.
The language is fast-paced and tongue-in-cheek. I don't know which author's style is more prevalent but I am really enjoying it. It gives nods to the reader without completely breaking the fourth wall. I have high hopes it will end well. Or not, seeing as it is a book about the end of life itself.
